A traditional mala necklace consists of 108 counting beads plus one guru, or meru, bead. Used for centuries in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, malas are traditionally used in japa meditation — the practice of repeating a mantra or prayer while moving through the beads one by one.
One full 108-bead mala is available now, made from the same natural materials that shape our wrist malas and finished with attention to how a mala moves through the hands during meditation. Further designs are being made in the workshop.

Unless otherwise noted, our full malas contain 108 counting beads plus one guru (meru) bead. Because they are made with natural materials, each one is unique — bead color, pattern, texture, and size vary naturally.
